Melting points and boiling points of halogens

Melting points and boiling points -

Due to small size, the halogen have low melting points and boiling in their respective periods. However on moving down the group, the melting points and boiling points gradually increase. It is because of increase of magnitude of van der waals forces of attraction due to the increase in the molecular sizes.
