Physical properties of Hydrogen iodide (HI) -

- It is a colourless gas having pungent odour.

- It is heavier than air and fumes strongly in moist air.

- It condenses to a colourless liquid at 0°C and 4 atmospheric pressure.

- It is highly soluble in water.

- It boils at - 35.5°C and freezes to a white solid which melts at - 50.8°C.
