Solution theory of semipermeable membrane

Solution theory :

According to this theory, the substance which dissolves a semipermeable membrane can pass through it. For example, phenol works as a semipermeable membrane between pure water and calcium nitrate. It allows water to pass through it because it is dissolved in water other hand, on the Ca(NO³)² molecules donot pass because it does not dissolved in phenol
