The indian peafowl or blue peafowl
(scientific name - Pavo cristatus) is a large and brightly blue colour peacock of the pheasant family native to south Asia, but in many other place of the earth , Linnaeus in 1758 first named the spisese some people still using the same name (Pavo cristatus) . The male peacock is blue with a big crest with wire like feather and it is best known for the long train made up of elongated upper tail feathers which gives a colourful and beautiful spots . These elongated feathers rised like a fan and quivered like a beautiful display during courtship . The female peacock has a greenish neck and a brown plumage . The indian peafowl/ peacock are mostly found on the ground in open forest ,on land under cultivation or on river and lake side where they can eat berries grain , snakes , lizard , small rodents etc. In forest peacock indicate the presence of predators like Tiger , lion etc.. peacock are mostly avoid flight. They always try to escape on foot but through they can fly into the tall trees to escape . It is the national bird of India . The indian peacock /peafowl are listed by the international union for conservation of natuNa (Iucn) for concern.
